Wendell Pittenger came to Minnesota in the winter of 1966 and was the Head Golf Professional at Rochester Golf and Country Club for 7 years before building Willow Creek in 1973. Pittenger was a teaching and Assistant Professional from 1957-66 and one of his fondest memories was working at Bellrive in St. Louis during the 1965 U.S. Open. Wendell resides in Rochester, Minnesota.

In addition to Willow Creek Golf Course and Little Willow executive course in Rochester, MN, Pittenger operates Mississippi National Golf Course in Red Wing, MN; Lost Spur Golf Course and City View Conference and Banquet Center in Eagan, MN; and Oak Marsh Golf Club in Oakdale, MN.
