Swing Right For Your Type - August 2003
By David La Pour
One of the challenging things in the game of golf is to find the right golf swing for your body type.
There is obviously many ways to hit a golf ball and throughout the years from amateur golf to the professional tours this has been the case.
It seems that there are as many different golf swings as there are body types. Talk about confusing! Not to fear.
One of the leading experts, Dr. Jim Suttie, is coming to Oak Marsh Golf Club on August 29th, and 30th to teach about what kind of body
types exist and which one you may have. More importantly what kind of golf swing optimally fits your body.
Dr. Suttie is co-author of The Laws of The Golf Swing and was voted as the top teaching professional of the year in 2000 by The PGA of America. Aside from working with tour players like Loren Roberts, Steve Flesch, and Chip Beck, "Doc" is a top 100 instructor with more than 30 years of teaching golf.
Which body type are you?
Leverage----Medium, proportional build, average flexibility.
David Frost, Annika Sorensam, Jim Colbert.
Arc----Tall, thin-chested, long arms, maximum flexibility.
Davis Love, Michelle McGann, Tiger Woods.
Width----Thick torso, short arms, minimum flexibility.
Tom Lehman, Meg Mallon, Jim Albus.
My personal experience with Doc Suttie is that he takes a lot of the mystery out of what you should be striving to do with your golf swing.
Like Steve Whillock, the Director of Golf at Oak Marsh Golf Club says, "When Doc talks everyone stops talking and listens".
If you would like the opportunity to work with Doc at the end of August or meet him in person call the Oak Marsh Proshop at 651-730-8886 or check out our ad for the Advanced Golf School. Why not match your body type to your optimal golf swing for maximum enjoyment! See you at the Club,
